Amoudara Review

Review of Amoudara

Amoudara is just 5 km west of Heraklion and it is considered as one of the most popular north coastal resorts in Crete. The name of the area means “huge sand” in the Greek language as it is 5 km long thus making up the perfect location for sun seekers and sports enthusiasts. There is a wide range of choices at Amoudara such as taverns, restaurants, cafes, cinema, swimming and sea facilities. The hotels in Amoudara are a great solution for those who seek relaxation and calmness, since the area is the ideal location for exploring other interesting spots of Crete. Some of them include the ruins of the Venetian castle at the nearby village of Palaeokastro, the small villages of Ano Kalessia, within an area full of vineyards, and Kato Kalessia, with the church of Panaghia going back to the 14th century.
