Kolymbari Review

Review of Kolymbari

Kolymbari is a small seaside town with 55.00 inhabitants, located 24km west of Chania. The wild Rodopos cape starts from the west of the town with imposing cliffs and small quiet bays. Kolymbari is fairly well developed, mainly due to the beautiful long beach that stretches in front of the village and extends to the east. The beach in Kolymbari is sandy and the water gets deep into certain places. Next to the beach there are many options regarding food and entertainment. If you seek for a quieter beach, you can visit the small coves near the monastery of Gonia, 1km northwest of the village. The monastery that looks like a fortress has a significant collection of valuable Byzantine icons. Moreover near Gonia there is the Orthodox Academy of Crete, where several nationwide and global conferences on theological and general subjects take place. A series of cultural activities are also organized by the Municipality of Kolymbari.
