





Lassithi plateau is 2.790m feet above the sea level, it stretches approximately 7 miles from east to west and nearly 4miles from north to south. The chain of mountains round it forms a natural barrier punctuated by just nine passes. During the Venetian occupation, irrigation work transformed it into fertile plain, and its produce is renowned throughout the Crete. There were at one time around 10.000 windmills ensuring the supply of water, but many since then have been replaced by motorized pumps.
First stop is at the village of Peza where you will have the possibility to taste Cretan wine. Peza is the biggest center of production of table wine and believed to be of a best quality in the world.
Continuing through Thrapsano, which is know for its small family manufactures.
Reaching to the small village of Psychro, which is the departure point for excursions to the cave Dikteon Andron that, according to mythology, was the birthplace of Zevs.
Last stop is made at visit Byzantine monastery of Panaghia Kere Kardiotissa, rich in votive offerings.
During your journey you will have the chance to admire the Cretan nature with its mountains, plateau, gorges, famous for its rich flora and fauna, and to visit traditional villages where the time seems to have stopped.
